Marion Rauter (by Nora Theiss ) P5
The inner battle of existing is also expressed in the work 'Tot oder Lebendig' (2012) [Dead or Alive]. A man - her husband - appears twice in the painting.
Once sitting, facing the viewer, once lying lifeless. The space surrounding him is pure nature, is alive - for the first time in the oeuvre of Marion Rauter. Still, it does not seem to have an influence on the protagonist at all. He sits in the middle of life, and yet cannot decide on his own. Or will he? This question seems to remain unanswered.
In Martin Schnur's works, this synchronicity of two image planes is also present and,
like Marion Rauter, he is a self-taught painter.
